Ariel started her career in acting young, appearing in the Cool Whip commercial at age 6. Her first television appearance began at age seven years old, appearing in a CBS episode called Listen Up! She followed up these with roles in shows like Monk Bones and ER. Gretchen was the main character that she played in 2007 in Disney's original channel's animation series Phineas and Ferb. Her first performance in live-action came in the year following as Alex Dunphy of the hit TV show Modern Family. Her cast received four Screen Actors Guild Awards for the Best Ensemble Performance in the category of Comedy Series.
