Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as alternative and folk. They also have influences from hip hop, jazz and punk. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement and is among the pioneers to establish her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian origin, while her mother hails from Montreal.
